Are the Olympic Games just a waste of money? Are there are so many international events nowadays that they have become irrelevant?

Why should cities around the world have to bust the bank to build stadia and facilities they cant fill at any other time?

Apart from the athletics, arent they mega-boring?

Are they just another excuse for international bravado?

Are they drug infested shams?

Should we just scrap the Olympics

What d'ya think folks??

I think not to all your questions...

1) The Olympics brings the world together in one place, and everybody actually forgets about fighting.

2) City's should bust this banks because it brings in loads and loads of cash. It also exposes the city to the world, and will bring in many tourists.

3) Nope, not boring at all. I lurve watching all the events.

4) Some athletes take drugs...but hey, half the world does!!

The olympics is a great event, and should definately not be scrapped!

yeah everybody forgets about fighting until someone blows something up like they did in Alanta '96. PLEASE!

boreing...some events...some aren't. I personally wont watch even 50% of the show...WHY WOULD I WHEN I CAN WATCH ALL THE EPISODES OF SURVIVOR I MISSED!

only good thing is for the city (country) it is held in.........it's all about the $$$$

and yes have to agree with 747sp_rulez (Tommy) a lot of people take drugs...what are you gonna do!

Scrapped? I couldn't care less either way.

I think it wouldn't be purdent to scrap them. The Olympics is great for all parties involved.

For one thing, it brings the world together (as stated by 747sp_rulez). What other event brings people together in a peaceable fashion? Until recently, and I believe it's not the norm, it was peaceable.

Athletes, regardless of nation and race, all have an equal opportunity to win a metal. This was one of the first "equal opportunity" events.

Cities can earn lots of money and get world wide attention. Plus, it forces them to clean up and show the city in a presentable fashion.

I, for one, believe the Olympics should stay.

The people who diss the Olympics are probably enjoy Real World reruns. This is a national showcase for athletes around the world to showcase their abilities, you dont get worldwide coverage of Chinese gymnastics do you? They are one of the best countries at this sport, too. And it brings money in to the cities. Some of you may be experiencing luxuries in your city because of the Olympics that happened there twenty years before. The only reason I would see why you wouldnt like the Olympics is if you dont like sports, which is okay, but you gotta appreciate the moments like Kerri Strugs in the 96 Olympics.

I would rather watch the Olympics than some stupid Fox Special Like "When TVs Go Bad!" Or For That Matter Cops!
