In order to save on air fares and accomodation, I shall (...) be planning my October vacation shortly.

I am looking for :

1) Something in the sun
2) Cheap hotels and restaurants
3) Shopping opportunities
4) No advance visa requirements
5) Of course, a SkyTeam destination
6) Edit : some spotting opportunities !!!

Any ideas ?

I guess you mean GOI, and not Genoa!

Though GOI is not a skyteam destination, it's easily reached via BOM - which has a number of Skyteam options. Plus you can choose to fly one of the Indian LCCs BOM-GOI, or take the train via the scenic Konkan railway.

GOI is, as said, not SkyTeam covered. And you would need a visa, obtainable within one day. We are glad to welcome you to India, and don't neglect UTA_flyinghighinaBig grin

3. Shopping for what?
4. Are you Irish? You can get your visa at Beirut airport
5. AF, 777-300ER on top of it
6. Good spotting opportunities, just have a look in the db!

Hmm let's see.

1) Something in the sun - he wishes
2) Cheap hotels and restaurants - Skidmarks' couch and his wife's cooking ?
3) Shopping opportunities -of what ? Un-tailed cats and weird-looking sheep ?
4) No advance visa requirements - Ok, that one works.
5) Of course, a SkyTeam destination - No chance
6) Edit : some spotting opportunities !!! - Maybe spotting if you get bitten by mosquitoes or something.

 Silly

UTA,

Shouldn't you have a point 7 on your list.

7 Internet access for Airliners.net

I went to Majorca in October for a week a few years ago. It cost next to nothing, if you exclude the alcohol bill.

How about Kerry?  bigthumbsup

Goa is a decent suggestion but need an Indian visa.

Otherwise South Africa, Mexico, an island in Caribbean or Florida.

It's narrowing down to Morocco, Lebanon or Turkey.
Any residents of the aforementioned countries ?

A song comes to mind...

[sings] Bermuda, Bahama, come on pretty Mama [/sings]

But you said "something cheap", so RyanAir to Spain would be more realisitically speaking.
