If you had the power to pick the next UN Secretary General, who would he or she be? My pick would be Bill Clinton, although the rest of the world will probably never go along with having an American heading the UN.

I doubt an American could be a UN Sec-Gen in the forseeable future. I have no specific person in mind, but it should be someone who themselves and from a country with an excellent history of supporting human rights, peace, administrative skills and honesty. We also need someone whom will not allow the UN to be abused for personal gain or to abuse other countries (like in particular Israel). They need to press for many badly needed reforms as to finances and management as well as not allowing human rights organizations and panals within the UN from being hosted in their rotating leadership by representives of countries with a non-existant human rights record. It is a tall pile of requirements that few can meet.

That pretty much takes care of Clinton.
Not to mention - what would happen if Clinton became UN Secretary and his wife became president? Ouch.
