Oh well with all the cricket attention on The Ashes series lets take a look at the One Day Tri series in Zimbabwe also involving NZ and India.
Game 1 was Zimbabwe vs NZ
NZ amased 397/5 off just 44 overs, missing the world record by just 1 run and off 6 less overs.
Lou Vincent led the charge with a new NZ ODI record of 172 off 120 Balls. Fleming made 93 in an opening partnership of 204. McMillan and Mcullum came and had some fun with the later scoring 51no off 21 balls. Blignaut conseeded 96 off 9 overs, the third worst figures in the history of ODI cricket Zimbabwe made 205 with streak top scoring with 45. So a bit of a waste of time that 1, NZ scrapping home by 192 runs.
Game 2 NZ v India
NZ won the toss and batted as you would on a road.
They soon found themselves in trouble with Nehra and Pathan bowling really well and getting a bit of swing! NZ found themselves 36/5 off about 10 overs. McMillan and Oram set about the rescue with a 91 run partnership in no time before Oram was stupidly run out for 36 then McMillan followed shortly after for a well made 54. Cairns made a quick 20 and Mcullum again played well for 49 off 39 balls. NZ eventually made 215.
Thought NZ were bad at 36/5? India found themselves 44/8 in about 11 overs, Shane Bond made some of these guys look average with an awesome spell of fast bowling! Taking 5-14 off his first 7 overs, and Andre Adams chiping in aswell with a couple. Pathan and sorry I forgot his name, new guy then played really well for a partnership of 118 for the 9th wicket before Bond came back to claim his 6th wicket and a NZ best 6-19 and India all out for 164.
So who will take out this series NZ or India? Zimbabwe can be discounted here!
Great to see Bond back! And in this series there is this new Powerplay rule where the feilding team must use 3 powerplays an innings, first 10 rather than the first 15, then 2 sets of 5 overs at anytime in the innings where you can only have 2 feilders outside the 30 metre circle. Also a new super sub thing where you take out a bowler so they don't have to bat, then have a batter that desn't feild. I think its good that they are looking to advace the One day game.
