I know she is a very very top international superstar and she sold hundreds and hundreds of albums and made heaps of money. She has a great voice and many of her songs are very nice too. She had a divorce sometime ago.
What's up with her now? Will she be touring one day? Guess she is 100% retired now.

She is currently lived in Tucson, AZ. She is enjoying herself pretty much around the world and get arrested for DWI every now and then in USA.
She is a truly gay icon.

She is not looking so good these days.
But she still sings okay.
Happiness is not seeing another trite Ste. Maarten photo all week long.

Oldies, I think you got a side track here. We are talking Diana Ross not Micheal Jackson.
What it has to do with Micheal Jackson pic here? Wrong source for a wrong topic.

Ask around - someone will explain it to you.
I read your profile and your age is between 56-65. So, I fully understand that you are in lala land. So, there is no need to ask someone to explain it to me.

She has lots of fans I am sure. More than any of today's singers.
I am sure there is a large market if she comes out again

As long as she doesn't try to foist those 70's replacement Supremes on us again and call it a "reunion" tour.

So that's why she banged the door of her Jag into the side of my car while getting out to go to her nail appointment.

Replacement Supremes are no where near to the original Supremes in the 70s. It was a lot more successful.
She was very successful even when she was on her own.
She better sing on her own rather than forming a replacement supreme.

I think it was in the late 90s with the "Supremes" and by "Supremes" I mean some random chicks she hired to fill in as the "Supremes". The whole thing fell apart quickly and was cancelled I think.

Maverick:
They were Supremes, but 70's era Supremes that Diana never worked with until she needed some for a "reunion" tour.
The REAL Supremes, Mary Wilson and Cindy Birdsong (herself a replacement, but at least she worked with Miss Ross before she went solo) wouldn't agree to Diana's "terms".

I was on shift when that arrest happened, after she refused a routine security search before boarding the BA001 Concorde that morning in 1999.
We heard of a delay in the hangar, but it quickly became clear it was not an aircraft fault, but a pax fault.
I can almost hear her "do you know who I am?"
'Diva', is that some old Latin word for 'bitch', or perhaps an abbreviation for 'over indulged pain in the arse?'

yes. it was in 1999 and was called "The Return to Love Tour."
it was a financial and box office disaster. i recall reading that somewhere, i believe Phoenix, only sold 900 seats out of a possible 17,000. and this was because tickets were well near the $100 range at some shows, even for the cheap higher tier level seats.

Will she be touring again? I am sure there is a huge market out there since she is one of the best/most successful/richest/most famous singers ever. And she is still very famous.
Was she ever in Hong Kong before? I doubt it. Never heard of any of her concerts in Hong Kong.
What caused this financial and box office disaster?

no. the tour was maybe two months at the most and played basically the A-market cities in the U.S. Toronto might have been on the list. can't remember.
severely overcharging. the fact that Ross was coming out of nowhere and expecting to fill 15,000 seats a night. plus her "Supremes" were not even the original ones, nor anywhere close.
as far as i believe, Mary Wilson and Ross haven't spoken in what...20 years?

i'm sure a few casino lounges would hire her.

Correction, it was the summer of 2000 and not the fall of 1999. I honestly thought she had gone out during the fall of 1999 and was tossing in a Y2K concert to top it all off. Guess I got her confused with......well....everyone else.
I found the original tour dates. The tour -did- play Toronto but was officially nixed after the July 6 New York City date.

Slamclick,
did you have to put MJ photo on here? He is bloody scary and I feel sick now
25 United Airline: I see. She never had a concert in Hong Kong or Asia ever in her life I think. Is Mary Wilson still around? Perhaps she would have done very well in h
26 United Airline: Also one side question, how many albums did she sell throughout her career? How does this compare to Whitney Houston and Madonna? I know she has the h
27 SlamClick: I had just seen the picture on this thread . . . We're Nuts' Nuts And As Much Innuendo As You Want (by KROC Aug 30 2005 in Non Aviation) . . . and co
28 STLGph: Mary Wilson is still around. she tours under the billing "Mary Wilson of the Supremes." she has done a lot of work in smaller venues. a few years ago
29 Solnabo: I read the critics: "You could land a B747 between Ms Ross and so called Supremes on the stage" at the 2000 tour.......*lol* Micke//SE
30 United Airline: That's a lot! What does she do at these places? Maybe not, Though she can. How old is she now? LOL!
