I'm a huge Star Trek fan, esp. TNG, but DS9 and Voyager really need help. I haven't watched Voyager in a while, and almost never watched DS9. Neither impres me. Voyager is just sex and violence anymore, special effects, etc., nothing good anymore. There's no Gene Roddenberry left in Trek.
I wrote the 10th movie with a friend (Keith Barnstein) and for three years now we've been petitioning Paramount to read our work. Since no Trek movie has ever been written from the outside, it's virtually impossible. I'm hoping that getting a book published and offering some $$$ incentive might at least get it to the eyes of Eric Stillwell (Rick Berman's assistant).
For now, all I know about the official Trek X is that they aren't too sure it'll sell well enough to put the time and money into it, and they're still fidling with the idea of going back to Kirk's academy days. I just can't see that workingout.

Best to worst:
1. I: Motion Picture, slow but awe inspiring
2. III: Search for Spock, "My God Bones, what have I done?" - "What you had to do, what you always do: Turned death into a fighting chance to live."
3. First Contact, "No! NOOOO!" (Shatter window)
4. VI: Undiscovered Country, "Second star to the right and straight on 'till morning." -- made me cry...
5. V: Final Frontier, Star Wars never found god!
6. IV: Voyager Home, "Captain! There be whales here!"
7. II: Wrath of Kahn, "...and also, that I am proud; very proud, to be your son." and later: "I feel... young."
8. Generations, "It was... fun."
9. Insurrection, "How many people does it take, Admiral, before it becomes wrong?" THEY BROUGHT THE PHILOSOPHY BACK! WHOOPPEE! No more Voyager sex and violence! YAYAYAYAHOOOOOEEEE!
