At risk of sounding like a yup, who here loves golf as much as I do?

WHen I can get out and play, it's very relaxing. I mean, I suck ass, but I have a blast every time I go out!

Sometimes the only thing I don't like about golf is the people... many of them are stuck up, but a lot of them are awesome conversationalists too.

SFO, I'm like you. I suck, but love the game. I actually started improving this year, but then the wheels fell off and I sucked WORSE! I shoot usually in the mid-90s. My first round of the year was a personal record of 82!!!! Then I started sucking bad, broke my rib and didn't golf for 5 weeks now. I'll really suck when I get back. But there is nothing more fun than playing a round with 3 friends on a Sunday afternoon drinking beer, busting each others' chops and having a good time.

JetService, 82... not bad!!!

Hey, it was hard for me to suck being on the championship golf team. I was second worst (7th/8th)... at least I wasn't 8th! =)

You're right about playing with friends on a sunny (or Sunday if you prefer hehe) afternoon. 'Cept we only bust each others chops. Being under 21, inebriation is for the nighttime when it's hard for the pigs to find us.  Big thumbs up

The best job of my life was the 3 years I spent as a greens keeper at a golf course. At work at 4am... cut cups.. mow greens..mow fairways.. gas some gophers.. off at 1 pm and golf til dark. If I could've paid the bills with it I would do it til I die!

As far as my game is concerned, I'm really pretty good from about 110 yards in. But, putting, chipping and pitching, while important, can't erase the extra storkes caused by my frequently errant tee-shots! Earlier this summer, I hooked a ball off of the 6th tee at my local Palo Alto Golf Course. The only trouble is...the tarmac of the municipal airport is directly to the left. The ball went over the low fence and landed on the tarmac and took a huge bounce in the trajectory of a taxiing Cessna. From my vantage point, it sure looked as though the ball was going to smack right into one of the windows of the plane. Fortunately, the ball appeared to stop well short, meaning that I successfully avoided shooting a "hole in one" that day! Embarrassment And of course, I blocked my re-hit out into the trees on the right.

Naturally, I was out playing with members of my school's golf team that day. The next day, I came back to "work on my game" and the pro shop couldn't find a threesome to put me in, so I went out alone. And of course, I shot my best round ever...a 79. Gotta love the perverse nature of the game!

Soku, we're talking about 18 holes not 9.  Laugh out loud  Laugh out loud  Laugh out loud

I usually play once every 2 weeks. Sometimes much more or much less.

I suck @$$ at golf. I think it is fun though. Here you either play early in the morning or at night so you can avoid the heat.

OK guys, get a load of this. Remember I said I haven't played in 5 weeks? Well I played today and things were going pretty bad. Then on hole #4 Par 3 165 yards, I take out a 6 iron. I push it right, and it lands dead center on the #3 green and rolls across to the back fringe. So now I'm about 90 yards out from MY green. I hit a wedge off the #3 fringe and shank it right AGAIN! This time, it streaks across the #6 green hot as hell, nails the pin and goes in the #$@#$@#$#$@#$@#$@%@#%@ hole!!!!
My after my partner finally stops pissing his pants from laughing so hard, he tells me that that is a free drop. So I pull it out of the #6 hole, drop it, chip on and 2-putt for a double-bogey. So I shot a 5 and hit 3 greens! How many can say that put on THAT display!!! LMAO!!!! When's bowling season start!?!?!?!!

I love playing golf. Even though I'm not the best golfer (hcp 16), I enjoy it. I am a member at a country club here in Austria and trust me, its a real snob sport here compared with back home in Sweden where its cheap to play. The parking lot is filled with the most amazing cars. Mercedes CL, Ferrari, Porsche, BMW, Morgan, Jaguar, ...
Everybody buys the most expensive clubs just becuase they think that they will help their horrifying swings!

Last Wednesday, I played Crystal Springs, a beautiful 18-hole course nestled right along the valley of the Coastal Range just west of the Bay Area.

Two friends witnessed this.

On a 410 yd Par 4 hole, I was on the green in 2... had the chance for bogie. Plus, I was, like, 5 feet from the whole when I hit on.

Guess how many putts?

FOUR from 5 ft out.

THat's really embarassing!

SFO, LOL! Been there done that! Once I had a 10 footer for my first ever eagle and I bogied the sombitch. That's a 4 putt. 500+ yards in 2 strokes and it took 4 strokes for the last 10 feet. That's how putters end up in ponds.

Just kidding, the games a blast, enjoy it. I do, even though I don't get out hardly at all any more.

On a good day I shoot in the 90's, and am damn proud of it!!!

I'm not really a golf fan, but I was good at it when I tried it for the first time. I wish I could suck at golf so I could do better at the sports I do like!

SFOintern,

Golf is relaxing to you?  Yeah sure When I play it it's a tension producer. You should see me play, it's hilarious.
