Labor Day In New York

I have some friends who have flown out to New York today (sept.2nd) for a 5 day visit. I was supposed to go with them but work commitments got in the way.

I have been told that New York almost shuts down for labor day weekend. I can't believe this to be true. Is there any New Yorkers who could help me with this.

No, we do not shut down at all this weekend! Everything is on, and its a great time to visit the city - nice weather, less congestion and easier to get into clubs, restaurants and shows.

It's ALWAYS a good time to visit NYC!
