RIP.....

amazing how in the face of all the other tragedy that is happening I can shift gears and feel this as well. I would guess that it's because Gilligan was a part of my childhood....every afternoon we set sail on a three hour tour that lasted 30 minutes and he played the pivotal role. This show was not about the writing...it was about the characters and the people that played them....

I'll miss knowing that Denver is around....it's a link to my childhood.

Condolences to his family.

Sad that was one of my favourite shows as a kid. At least he finally got off that island.

Man,

I would've thought that either Russell Johnson (Professor) or Tina Louise (Ginger) would have passed on before him.

RIP, now there are only 3. I know, bad rhyme.

Similar sentiments here. Even if I've seen every episode many times over, the best of them still give me a good laugh. Don't know whether he bought it or not.

BTW: my brother saw at a store the Rescue From Gilligan's Island video on sale for $2 about a couple of days ago.

Wow! 17 posts and Bush hasn't been blamed for this event, YET!

I remember seeing a Annette Funicello/Frankie Avalon movie called "Back to the Beach" where they were the older couple that is now grown up and has teenagers of their own. Bob Denver played a character who sat in a bar and shot one liners about being Gilligan (without mentioning him by name). One of the lines was (when handed a drink in a coconut shell) "I knew a guy once who could take two of these (coconut shells) and make a neuclear reactor but couldn't fix a hole in a boat". It was classic funny stuff at his own expense. The movie, overall, sucked though.

Anyway, RIP, Mr. Denver...

Probably not before Gilligan dropped something heavy on Skipper's foot but following Skipper's famous (long before Homer Simpson's "Doh!") "Doop!" or "Oof!". Nonetheless, Gilligan would be beaten senseless w/Skipper's cap.
