My 18 year old brother now works at Bentley Motors Crewe, Staffordshire, England.

He says in the next week or so, he will be able to test some Bentleys around a test track. He does not know what the track is called, he thinks it begins with a 'K'. It is not very far from the Crewe factory.

The question I am asking is: does any body know what the track is called and do you have any info on it, i.e. a website.

Tom.

Had a look at http://www.bmrc.co.uk/index.html and couldn't find anything. Maybe a disused airstrip that wouldn't be on here.

All right then, is there any disused airstrips in the country near Crewe, prosibile beginning with a 'K'.

Just a little note. Crewe is in Cheshire.

The nearest race circuit which is used for occasional testing is Oulton Park.

Why do I find it hard to swallow that Bentley will give a car worth in excess of £100,000 to an eighteen year old....? Methinks you are being wound up there!

It's not that unbelievable ............

When I was 17 I was invited by Lotus to drive a variety of their cars from various era's on a photo shoot for a magazine. And so basically I got to drive everything they had ever produced including Lotus Carlton, Elise, Esprit, Elan etc around bruntingthorpe for a day.

Collective value of all the cars I drove that day was in excess of a million pounds.

Now admittedly I wasn't exactly some random guy off the street, I started racing very young and by 17 I had already won 6 championships in karts, saloon cars and single seaters and the week before had briefly held the world record (for about 4 hours) for power-sliding a 4WD car (an Evo as it happens).

But all that doesn't escape from the fact that I was a 17 year old who had only held a full driving licence for about 6 weeks at the time.

Regards,
Gordon.
