For years, I have watched professional bowling on ABC. Nelson Burton Jr and Chris Schenkel did the bowling talk on TV.

Chris Schenkel died yesterday (Sept. 11). He was over 80 years of age.

Pro bowling have lost top names lately. Earl Anthony, Don Johnson, Dick Weber, and now Chris Schenkel.

More about Schenkel... News article from PBA.com (Professional Bowlers Association)

All due respect: zip it, Ted.

He was one of the real pioneers in TV sports broadcasting . He did just about everything: football, basketball, baseball, the Olympics, bowling. He alone made the PBA a big TV draw in the 70's, and when he left, it was no coincidence that the PBA died on network TV.

He was an excellent college football announcer as well.

A true great in the field of sports broadcasting. RIP.

I'm surprised he didn't blame President Bush.
