OK....let's get it started for this week. Lay your predictions out and then come back to either talk smack or explain/excuse.
Hope I'm celebrating. This week my Falcons are out west playing the Seahawks and I want a win for this week. Vick ought to run a little wild, but I really want our defense to shut the Seahawks down and continue to improve. We played with tremendous emotion last week and need to prove that a short week and a trip to the west coast won't throw us off. If we can improve our road record and keep winning at home this'll be one hell of a year.

The Giants are playing the Saints this week in New Jersey, but the Saints will be the home team. I hope the Giants will win and they have a good shot at winning, but the Saints will be playing with a lot of heart this week.

The Steelers are on the road for the first time this season -- at Reliant Stadium in Houston to take on the Texans. The forecast high in Houston Sunday is 98 degrees with a heat index of 110 -- outta be a warm one.
The Texans have a makeshift offensive line and David Carr was sacked five times last week in Buffalo. Hopefully Joey Porter has a big day. One of the defense's biggest objectives has to be to shut down Andre Johnson.
The Steelers looked pretty dominant in their 34-7 win over Tennessee last week -- but it was Tennessee.

The Eagles will bounce back from last week's tough loss in our home opener vs. the 49ers...it will be interesting to see how McNabb plays with that bruised chest he suffered in Week 1...amazingly, the game is being televised here in Boulder, so that means a bright and early wakeup call on a Sunday for an 11 am kickoff, but it'll be worth it...E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!

If the green and gold can't come up with a win in their home opener against the Browns, then the season is going to be a long one. Come on Pack!!!
Otherwise, a lot of close games to pick this week. I think Miami is this year's surprise team, and winning at the Jets (who looked awful last week, admittedly) would solidify that.

Rams vs. Cards very well may end up a shootout. The Rams' defensive and special teams over the past few seasons have been laughable at best. The trouble at SF last week illustrates that well. Meanwhile, the Cards are fresh off an ugly defeat from the Giants. Kurt Warner gets to play his old team from his glory days, and he has a viable receiving unit with the likes of Fitzgerald. Both he and Marc Bulger are certainly capable of tossing 300+ yard games. If this doesn't turn out to be a shootout, it will be a comedy of errors, of massive proportions, reminding us all how pathetic a division the NFC West is. Sadly, I would put my money on the latter scenario.
Anyway, go Rams!
I'll be in the lower deck over the endzone cheering them on!

And everything returns to normal in Philadelphia as the Eagles absolutely freakin demolish the 49ers 42-3...what a great display of offensive prowess from the Birds...McNabb 23 of 29 for 342 yards, 5 TD's and no picks...11 receivers caught at least one pass (out of 13 offensive players who would be ordinarily be eligible, only TE Mike Bartrum and RB Ryan Moats did not get a catch)...T.O had 5 catches for 142 yards and 2 T.D's...he's back on my good side since he's not stirring up shit anymore and playing solidly...
The defense was crushing, picking off Tim Rattay 3 times and holding the 49ers to a field goal...overall just totally stuffing the 49ers...
Special teams...Akers missed ANOTHER FG...I dunno what the hell is up with that, but it is cause for alarm since he is now 1 for 4 to start the season...he got injured in the 2nd quarter, and it was great watching LB Mark Simoneau step in as a backup kicker and kick an extra point to make it 28-0...Akers returned though...
Overall, if we can get Akers back to normal and figure out why he can't kick FG's anymore to save his life, I'm very confident still for the rest of the season...

Steelers rolled over the Texans 27-7, with Big Ben going 13 for 18, throwing for 248 yards and 2 touchdowns. Willie Parker also had another good day..16 carries for 86 yards and a touchdown.

As die hard as I am about the Eagles Greg, they were playing SFO after all...
There's not really much competition in the NFC for them, save ATL. Let's see how they fare against the AFC teams, then I'll feel confident.

Quoting DL021 (Reply 16): We completely blew the first half of this game, and played with zero fervor or emotion.
Just goes to show you last weeks win against Philly was a fluke, and makes you wonder if that fight was just a big set up. ATL still has a long way to go.

Another great game for the Steelers! Next week against the Pats should be a good game.
Skyway1, Looks like the bungles are the team to play in the AFC North, I'm looking forward to the match up as well. I'm glad the Baltimore Rat Birds lost again, too.

Jaguars manage to hold the Colts offense down, but eventually that offense is going to have to score, and the Jaguars lose 10-3. Could be worse. At least the defense looks good.
And since I'm in the area, I have to say something about the Vikings, who looked pretty feeble. 0-2, and neither game was pretty. Sucks for them .
And someone check and see if Falcon is still around, or if he got transported to nirvana.

THE BROWNS WIN!!!
Trent Dilfer was 21 for 32, 336 yards, 3TD's and no picks. Not bad for a journeyman. Strikes of 80 yards to Braylon Edwards, and the big one, with 1:52 left, a 62 yarder to TE Steve Heiden, sealed it for the Browns.
Which is good, 'cause i have a feeling they don't match up next week very well with Peyton Manning and the Colts in the dome.
I think this is the last year for the Brett Favre era in storied Lambeau....

Damn Ian, we don't agree on anything.
If we hadn't come back so strong in the second half I'd be tempted to agree. Philly wasn't a fluke. I think we'll be competing for all the big time again this season. :P

As expected, at least Rams won, 17-12
The officiating was a little shaky though
They pissed a lot of people off today, even having to take a time out as the fans threw bottles on the field.
An ugly game, but a win's a win.
