Yes, I played centre half when I was in first year of high school, had a bash at goalkeeper too but that was a disaster.

After Monday and Tuesday even the calendar says WTF...

Yeah, I played. I was a starting Safety for 3 years. I'm 6'2 and around 175 lbs, and I was already that size when I started playing. I was ideal for safety, as I didn't have the speed the corners did, and I can hit really hard. I haven't played since I graduated, but I still keep in shape. Football was really one of the best things of HS.
I always wore the number 1. An odd number for a DB.

Yeah I played all four years in high school, I was an outside linebacker. I actually got a scholarship offer (to Union College in Kentucky), but wanted a school with better academics, so I passed it up to come here to Kansas, and probably wont ever play football again in a team fashion like that...bummer.

Played football for two years in junior high, played my freshman year in high school. Couldn't catch, couldn't block, wasn't that fast, played about 6 plays a game. Not for me  Wink

I did band for four years, and now I do lots of endurance stuff like century bike rides, and this December, my first marathon.

In the months before I started high school, I was all enthusiastic about trying out for the football team. The start of practice was in middle August, a couple of weeks before the start of school itself, and I had been literally counting the days starting at least in June.
When waiting finally became reality, and I actually started football practice, well let's just say that my hopes were dashed, and quickly. I was in no shape for all the running and other physical activity required, and in less than a week I quit. My high school sports career ended before high school began.

I played. I played TE and DE. I was on varsity soph-senior year. My soph. year we went to the Metrodome for the playoffs, but were unfortunately beaten by a better team. The other DE on my team and the RT who I used to line up with now play for the Minnesota Gophers. The MLB my soph year is now the starting WLB for the Minnesota Gophers.

I played for 3 years...all variety of positions...I played

OL
DL
SS
FB

I played the line now and then becuase I could pull faster than the bigger guards and lay a pop...I'm only 5'10 185...I always enjoyed playing defense more...until I got plowed by Travis Henry in a playoff game...

I would be too scared to hurt myself from playing football in high school. I was on several bowling leagues - if I hurt my body, I can't bowl.

However, my high school (Ohio School for the Deaf) did not have a football team during my time.

Last Tuesday my high school had their first football game in 44 years! I was there - I gave them my support.

I was in marching band all the way back in those days of high school, in the drumline.. played snare most of the time. We were at a lot of football games, and it was alright. It was the only reason I ever went to football games in all honesty.

Yes. All four years in HS - played offensive and defensive guard, and was the alternate long snapper for the punter if the regular center was out.

When I started HS, I was about 5'4" and weighed about 115lbs. By the time I graduated, I had grown all of 3 inches ,and about 8lbs.

On a HS program that was a contender for a State Title 3 out of 4 years I was in school (we won the state title my freshman year), are you kidding?  Big grin

Don't knock him, in HS if a guard is quick and strong, his weight doesn't necessarily matter because on alot of run plays he just has to get to a linebacker or pull and trap a tackle or DE as fast as possible. I played for a relatively small HS so I was on varsity for 4 years and a starter for 3... I started out as an offensive tackle at 6'3" 230 but by my sophmore year I'd joined the waterpolo team and I dropped to 190 so I switched to guard and defensive end. We weren't ever a great team, but we made the district playoffs one year and never had a losing season while I was there... my only claim to fame would be tackling Sean Taylor, who was an all american free safety at UM (but played tailback, reciever, linebacker, you name it in HS) and plays for the Redskins now. PROSA, I feel you. We'd have 2 weeks of 2 a day practice before classes started for about 5 hours total a day, in august, in Miami. Needless to say, for the first week or so a bunch of people threw up or blacked out every day... I never did, but I did scare myself when I dropped 6 pounds of water weight after a single practice. Anyone else that played D-line, I'm sure you'll know what I'm talking about when I say the one thing I truly miss is pulling a nice move to get past a blocker and finding the ballcarrier right in front of you, ready to be wrapped up and driven backwards. Such a good feeling... our european friends just wouldn't understand  Wink

Some of my best high school memories are of that sport... for some reason I can't stand to watch it on TV but it was just such a great experience to play.

yeah I was a part time OL...just on plays that needed a fast pull. Our starters were huge...probably averaged 6'2 260...for a small Catholic school we were damn good, 17-3 my two varsity years, we lost to Frostproof (FL) both years in the playoffs...and both years they had Travis Henry...dude was a madman in high school, I got him down but he trucked me...

Nothing beats being sent on a stunt, and not being picked up by the RB for an open shot on the QB. Then standing above him while he is groaning, looking down on him and say get up, get up bitch. Then the ref pushing you back on your side. Oh, I loved playing DE

I played high school and college ball. In the early years in high school I played both ways as def. end and tight end, but then towards the end of that and all through college I just stuck with def. end. Loved special teams too.

Good luck and message me sometime if you want to talk about it.
