MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Scientists from Mexico's tequila producing region say juice extracted from the blue agave plant, best known when distilled into the fiery spirit, may help dieters shed pounds and cut cholesterol.

Rest here: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20050923/od_nm/mexico_tequila_dc

All right... Since countless scientific studies have proven that excess cholesterol is a health hazard, I say it's time to care for ourselves and start a diet! Who's in?  drunk

I remember once I had 12 shots of tequila in one evening. I bet I don't have any cholesterol!  bouncy

Beware, you'll probably run out of tequila faster than you can say "Cheers!"  Wink

So does this mean that having a few margaritas will balance out the fat/cholesterol in the chips, the taco shells, the chimis, the cheese drenched burrotos, the lard in the refied beans? If so, then 2-3 $2 margaritas on Wednesdays at my local Chevy's 'tex-mex' resturant will balance it out?  drunk

Sammy Hagar will be very pleased.

Last time I saw him in concert, about a month ago, I counted about 10 bottles off his Cabo Wabo being polished off during a 3 hour show...granted he splashed a lot of it on the audience....when he did drink it, he downed it like an NFL linemen swills down Gatorade on the sidelines...

Sadly for the world's growing band of tequila lovers, agave's possible health benefits are lost when the plant is distilled into alcohol.

I think all of you started drinking Agave tequila after you read the headline but BEFORE you read the article! Reading comprehension skills is where it's at, gang...

The above quote comes from the article...so if you drink agave tequila, then forget it. If you drink the juice from the plant BEFORE it becomes tequila, then you drunkards might add a year or two to your lives... Wink
