As far as I can remember, there was some talk about Jerry Lee Lewis's involvement in the scene. He wanted to perform the song to make sure it was done correctly, so Anthony Edwards really had nothing to do with the actual sound production.

Oh gawd that long ago???? and tragically I saw it 14 times at the cinema. Took me til the 11th time to convince the usher Tom Cruise had nothing to do with me being there.......again! Any film with that much F-14 footage has to be good (Tom Cruise nothwithstanding)
