Joe Satriani is a very talented guitarist and a really nice guy. I have been to 5 of his last 6 concerts. Before, I never had money to go, so I would stand outside the concert venue and listen until he played "Flying in a blue dream." He is amazing to watch. I also have three of his DVDs and all of his CDs except the last G3. Here he is with me (I am wearing the Maple Leaf beanie):

Specifically, 1964-1966. Some great moments from 1974-1976, 1983, 1989-1991. Admittedly, he has produced plenty of utter crap as well, and should probably think about flushing his harp down the toilet at this point, but for sheer imagery and fire, 1964-1966 revolutionized Rock & Roll like no one else.

The late, great, master of post-bop:
Interestingly, Mingus said once that the jazz world should get down on their knees and thank God for giving us Duke Ellington. That may be true, but Mingus' own contribution to music was too unique in its own right for me to pass him over.
