One of the sports bars here in Portland showed all the games tonight. I went and watched my beloved Canucks beat up on the Coyotes in Vancouver 3-2. Sure, Phoenix had a 6-on-4 power play to get that second goal, but who's counting.

Anyway, anyone go to any of the games? Anyone see the Toronto/Ottawa shoot out? Your thought on the new season?

GO CANUCKS!!

I was at a local BCHL game tonight (Vernon Vipers against the Burnaby Express) and they always kept us up to date on the Canucks/Coyotes game. Way to go Vancouver!

BTW, our team (The Vipers) won 2-1 as well.

My Hurricanes lost 5-2 to the Lightning. Not surprising, but still disappointing. I'm thrilled that the NHL is back, but I don't get OLN here in my dorm, so I'm pretty upset about that. Looks like I'll be listening to a lot of internet radio coverage.

I watched the Ottawa-Toronto shootout on OLN- it was kinda anticlimatic, but as a Sens fan, I'm thrilled they won. OLN's in-studio commentary showing the highlights seemed kinda rough... "And... um... here's another goal by... who is that?... Is the score now 3-0?... No, that made it 2-0..." Hopefully it'll get better as the season progresses. Loved Barry Melrose's outfit on SportsCenter this morning though. Where the #$%& does that man find his suits- and more importantly- why the @*$! do the producers let him go on air dressed like that. Still- I'm thrilled Hockey's back.

I WOULD say that I'm surprised that TPASXM hasn't chimed in, but then again I can't imagine he was very sober when they raised the championship banner in TPA last night. Big grin I hope you had a GREAT time TPA!!!

Yep, seen the whole game as a matter of fact.

I was stuck to my seat. Getting rid of the red line is great. Constant attacks on net, fast paced game. I really enjoyed it even though the Leafs lost.

The shoot out was nothing special. I had thought there would be 5 shooters a side just like in soccer / football matches. Increasing the shots might make it more exciting?....i dunno.

I heard on the radio this morning that 11 of the 15 arenas were sold out and that the over all attendance for all games was at 98.1 % capacity.

So, how did your team do?....and was the flow of the game constant and fast?

The post-Forsberg era began in Colorado. And it wasn't exactly pretty as they lost to Edmonton, 4-3. I'd love to see the Avs have a respectable season despite losing two key players in Foote and Forsberg.

Ah it sucked the Thrashers lost last night i was pretty dissapointed but Luongo put up one heck of a game and did great stopping the shots. It sucked that we had kari sit, i still dont know why he was benched other than possibly being injured but why he was still in pads past that i dont know? But it was a good game none the less cant wait for the next one GO THRASHERS!!!!!!!!!!

Luongo was incredible last night; I mean even if the Thrashers had Kovalchuk out there, he probably couldn't have scored against Luongo. The extent of the injury to Lehtonen has not been publicly announced, but Darren Eliot was on NHL Live on Sirius this morning hinting that it may not be good. Let's just say there's a good chance that Kari spends the bulk of the season back in the AHL and we get a backup for Dunham via trade or free agency (Neither Michael Garnett nor Adam Berkhoel [Who ended up being Dunham's backup during preseason after Kari got hurt and Garnett was sent back to the Wolves.] are even close to being ready to even be an NHL backup). Kari stayed on the bench in pads just in case Dunham got injured.

I'm planning on being there @ Philips Arena on Saturday night for the home opener.

In the closing minutes of the third period, Vancouver got a penalty, so Phoenix pulled Curtis Joseph. Phoenix scored a goal on a 6-on-4 power play and went down to Vancouver 3-2.

TSN showed "Hockey's Back" commercials. The one was a spoof of the "Scream" movie, but the one I liked were the guys singing the Flashdance theme. The one guy sitting with his girlfriend and the look on her face was priceless!

What was the play-by-play like on Sirius? I have their service. Are the games they are covering and channels listed on their website? I would think so.

GO CANUCKS!!

I listened to a few minutes of the Thrashers-Panthers game until I realized that there was quite a lag. I was watching the game on TV and trying to listen to the radio play by play and started noticing that the radio call wasn't matching with the TV broadcast. If I wasn't watching the game at the same time I guess I wouldn't have been bothered.

Here's the schedule for October (althought they only have part of the month listed):
NHL Schedule on Sirius

From what I have heard, the feed for every game is different. So perhaps one night you're listening to the Canucks play and Sirius will use the Canuks radio feed; the next Canucks game might have the opponent's radio feed instead. I'll find out for myself tomorrow night as I listen to the Thrashers-Caps game; hopefully for me it'll be the Thrashers feed, but if it's the Caps feed, perhaps it will be interesting to hear a game from the other teams' P.O.V.

Just out of curiousity, I went over to XM's site and they seem to have better NHL coverage than Sirius does. XM will have every Thrashers game this month on there, while Sirius has a total of 4 scheduled so far (including the game last night). XM will also be rolling out an NHL Channel pretty soon as well. I've got two more months on my Sirius subscription and am now contemplating switching to XM then.

Yea i just found out as of right now that Kari is on the IR with a groin, and we reassigned Jim Slater to the wolves. I hope he will be ok because hes a great goalie for us and it sucks that we lost pasi because he was quite a fan favorite! I think i may be going to the game on saturday i gotta scrap up some change because i miss seeing them so much, ill tell ya if i do!

If the first two games of the season for the Blues are any indication of the season to come it may be a long winter. The first game at Joe Louis was awful but the second game of the home and home at Savvis was much better; however, we still lost. If we could have got the puck up in the last seconds we could have forced overtime(you had to be there). So close.

A little Blues update there is a man interested in buying the Blues and it looks promising. This man has a history in the NBA so maybe he will bring a team to STL.
