Sebastien Loeb and Marcus Grönholm will apparently join their forces in private Citroen team next years WRC! Both will be without a team as both Citroen and Peugeot factory teams will drop out after this year.

Definitely interesting news, or still a rumour at this time!?

I can't believe Peugeot and Citroen are dropping their factory teams. So is the only program that has a solid backing from HQ is Subaru now? I mean, Skoda and their multiple breaks, Mitsubishi and their hiatus, and Ford's constant threat to drop their program. Is the end of the WRC coming soon, or is there a solution to the constant shrinking of works teams?

Well, Grönholm was World Champ with Peugeot and Citroën belongs to the same company PSA, so he could pick the people he likes to join him in the new
Citroën private team. What do you think about the chances of a competitive
C2?

Err no they won't - its just been announced this morning that Gronholm has signed a two year deal with Ford for 2006 and 2007.

The idea of a private team was for Citroen to keep Loeb before possibly returning as a works effort in 2007.
