My interest in aviation devloped after taking my first flight, about 9 years ago.
My relatives think that I'm somewhat crazy. They don't say anything but I get that impression when I see the looks on their faces. They can't understand why I like airplanes that much.
Maybe it's because they think that aviation is not a "proper" interest for a girl.
Even my friends, male and female, can't understand my passion for aviation.
Do any of you have similar experiences?
P.S.:Now that I've got Internet access and found airliners.net I am convinced that I'm not crazy.
Thank you so much for being there!

What I find crazy is all the people standing in amazement looking at aircraft at an airport and the next day complain about the noise those aircraft produce and demand the airport be closed.
Then a few months later they board one of those aircraft for a holiday charter...

Airsicknessbag (cute username),
I've never had a chance to fly OS/NG/WE but I've flown VO Dash 8 (?) three times (FRA-GRZ, VIE-GRZ) which was quite ok.
I'm quite pleased with KLM/NWA though OS/NG may offer better service onboard but they are also more expensive.

You're not crazy.. At work, my name tag reads "Air Chris".. A lot of people have asked what it means, and I tell them that it signifies my aviation interest. Some people give me wierd looks, some just say Oh Ok, some don't say anything.. We're not crazy..

It's funny when I was in High school people thought my passion for aviation was nerdy. But now I'm a little older and I'm in flight school people think it's cool.
I don't understand how somebody couldn't have at least a small interest in Aviation, I mean FLYING. Human innovation at it's best.
Sometimes I'll be chillin' at 34 here in YYC, and an A340 will be coming in while a guy is walking beside the fence as the A340 goes right over his head and he doesn't even look up or anything. How could somebody ignore an A340 going over their head? I don't get it.
Klmfan, you're as crazy as I am, crazy about flying that is!!

Travel agents really think I am nuts. What do those old broads know about airline travel anyways?
Last year when they booked me and my girlfriend's SFO-HNL trip, they tried to put us on a AA 767 !
I rasied hell!
I insisted that it would be on the UA 747 -200.
I knew that UA was soon retiring those. Sure enough, it is now gone.
When I flew to Cuba two months ago, I insisted that I fly out of Cancun on a Friday to get the IL-62. The travel agent tried to get us go on another day to get the A320!
Can you believe that crap?!?!

Not crazy at all!
Everyone stares at me when I am at the airport and I am identifying aircraft types out loud.
You also get the crazy looks when booking flights and ask what type of aircraft?
I love to go to ORD and just sit and watch planes.
A couple of weeks ago, I flew ORD-DFW business class 777, got stuck awaiting take off. My business partner nearly freaked out when I started identifying planes out the window. He said "What makes you want to know all about planes?"

There are some people in my high school who think I'm crazy just being an aviation/airshow fan. And most of those people just don't care at all (they have no problem of me being who I am and what I love).

EGGD- Shup UP! YOU DA MAN!!
We're even, hehehehe!
HEY Klmfan!! Welcome to the site!!!
In fact you are crazy, we all are, we are all completely NUTS for aviation! I have, in SLC, made us slow down to 10 mph ON THE FREEWAY just to see that DL L-1011 take off or land!! Man that was a trip!!!
The L-1011 rocks, especially that low, it's a real shame DL retired them all. In the airport itself, yeah sure I call out the aircraft types, the thing is, I usually get the funny looks from THE PILOTS walking to/from plane!!
Ah but aviation is the best. Enjoy it, especially if you're a woman because female enthusaists are few and far between, so take pride that you are very special for that matter!!
So, do you want to pilot a plane, or are you into flight attending?

I understand. People think it's weird that I'm a girl and I want to fly airplanes. I really don't tell a lot of people because I don't feel like hearing about it. I also will notice that when I'm driving or riding in a car I'm the only one paying any attention to the planes flying over.

I was spotting at FNT today and some lady standing next to me started talking to me about the plane her friend had just got on. Just like that.. She started asking questions, and I provided what answers I could... We went to watch the plane take off and she kept talking. She said that she just loved going to airports and watching the planes come and go, and how amazing it was that we have technology to make things like airplanes and stuff.. We just talked for a while, then she left.. I had mentioned A.net earlier, and she had all the sudden brought it back up and asked lots of questions about it.. I though I had died and gone to heaven, until I realized I didn't get her number..
Oh well. I got to go on a AirTran 717 and look around while they were getting ready for the flight to ATL..
