There are too many for me to make up a top 5, but I think "Barbie Girl" would be way up there!

Then there's that song by...was it 'Las Ketchup'?? Dire!

And any of those novelty songs that always seem to make the Christmas No.1...don't even get me started on Mr. Blobby!! And if I never hear "Bob the Builder" again it'll be too soon!

other then that Casey Chambers 'true colours' sounds like nails being driven down a black-board and anything released by the John Butler Trio is shite IMHO (because every song sounds like their first hit and even that wasn't great)

4-Party All the Time-Eddie Murphy

This has to top the list of talented people who decided to show the world that they have absolutely no talent in other areas.

Very subjective, but I have to submit Phil Collins' "You Can't Hurry Love" just because the video portrayed an aging cracker trying to be Motown, and it just plain sucked like a Hoover.

Honorable mention: Billy Joel, Uptown Girl. Come to think of it, anything he's ever done post-Italian Restaurant, except for "Matter of Trust."

Dan Fogelberg - He may be talented, but he's a freakin' pussy.

STYX - Mr. Roboto. The birth of the stupid.

I'll get flamed for this: Talking Heads - anything but Psycho Killer. Damn, David Byrne is SO TALENTED, why do the Heads annoy me so much???

Bruce Springsteen. Bob Dylan wannabe. Sings about high school while he's in his 50's. That's pretty fuckin' indicative of a man who wants to make money but not music. Yeah, Nebraska was OK, but the rest is High School trash. Grow up.

Prince. A guy who can probably play his guitar, but pushes the distortion and plays with such a thin sound that you can't even tell if his volume knob is in the right position. Distortion hides a multitude of sins, and no doubt they are there. Besides, if you want to be taken seriously as a MUSICIAN, why is Apollonia even there in the first place?

The list goes on and on...

I really think this topic should be broken down into two catrgories: worst song EVER and worst song to break the top 40.

There is no shortage of either, but the worse off a well known song is, the better. But it should be noted that there are some obscure songs that are so hideous as to be unimaginable.

So here are my votes:

For worst song ever to break Top 40: "Kung Fu Fighting".

This song ranks right up there with that Chinese dude from American Idol that sang that Ricky Martin song a few years ago. I mean he was so horrible, so odious, and just plain bad that he became a superstar complete with marriage proposals by the dozen.

Same here. Kung Fu Fighting is one of those songs that's so bad, laced with such horrible and wonderfully chessy 70's 8-Track sound that it's actually funny.

Now as for the single worst piece of so-called music I have ever heard, it would be difficult to top "Pigs In Space" by Luka Bloom.

When I heard this song, I sat there simply mesmerized beyond belief and comprehension.

This is basically what the song consists of:

A recording with lots and lots of echo and reverb with a few random guitar plucks and a "singer" that sounds like he's about 70 years old repeating over and over, and I swear on my own life that all he's saying is something like: "gong-dinna-gong-gong-donna-gong-gong"...

Over and over for about 7 minutes. Not a single intelligible lyric. Indeed, if this song is any indication of the singer himself, ge definitely qualifies for a lifetime supply of rides on a "short bus", if you catch my drift.

Because that's what it sounds like.

God's honest Bible truth.

You NEED to find this CD.

Aww c'mon - Barbie Girl is so bad it's good. Besides its one of the songs you can change the lyrics and to lampoon and/or irritate anybody.

Red Red Wine has to be the tied with Don't Worry - Be Happy as the two songs that I can't stand to listen to. I will leave the room, turn off the radio, and if all else fails, stick my fingers in my ears and sing 'la-la-la-la" just to avoid hearing them.

A top 40 popular rock song by a major artist I cannot stand to hear is Paul McCarthy's (ex-Beatle) hit song of the summer of 1973, 'My Love Does It Good'. Part of my hate for that song is worsened by be my miserable college summer employment situation then. Here you have one of the greatest song composers in popular music ever, who writes and sings one of the grossest, sappiest, biggest load of crap top rakning and just plain rank songs ever. Defenitely a song I turn away from in a run and instantly change the radio channel from.  scared

Well, you only got the name of the song and the name of the artist wrong. Other than that, you're fine. That's a classic song to me. Yes, a bit sappy, but other than "For No One," Fixing a Hole," and "Getting Better," what isn't a bit sappy? I'd be hard pressed to put it up as one of the worst songsa ever. In fact, he uses jazz changes in that tune unlike most rock and rollers who at the time barely knew 4 chords. The guitar solo by Henry McCullough was amazing as well. Just my $0.02.
