I'm trying to start a blog site, which I want to link to an aviation lobby group I've set up, to push for a responsible aviation policy in Ireland. However, I know very little about the whole technical side of blogs and would appreciate someone pointing me in the right direction.

What do I need to start? Can I link the blog to the site (which is really a key requirement); does it cost anything to maintain it. How easy is it to update (I'll want to do this almost daily)?

Any help/advice and pointers to the best blog sites would be much appreciated.
