Interesting how there are some music threads on this section of "A-Net!"
My thread is: What songs are played way too much on the radio?
Can be current stuff or oldies. Here are some of my choices for songs that should be given a rest.
The Lion Sleeps Tonight
Build Me Up Buttercup
Mac Arthur Park (Richard Harris gay version; not that there's anything wrong with.....)
Honky Tonk Woman
That awful jimmy Soul ditty from 1963.
My Doorbell (White Stripes)
Anything from the Black Eyed Peas; especially that one where they bleat Oh no no no!
Get Back (Beetles)
Mary Hopkins- Those Were The Days, I Thought They'd Never End!
That Fu#$%ng song seems like it never ends.
Say You Say Me
Band Of Gold
Hands Up or is it Hands Off. Played at virtually any wedding, or other shindig North of the Mason Dixon Line. Thank God it's not popular even in the northernmost reaches of Dixy.
And of course that novelty song straight out of the asshole of hell: Mambo Number 5!
Oops, forgot: Tie A Yellow Ribbon round the Old Oak Treer-T. Orlando and Dawn.
More to come later!

What kind of radio stations do you guys listen to? "Lay Lady Lay" is overplayed? I've never even heard it on the radio!
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Sweet Home Alabama
Eagles - Hotel California
Yes - I've Seen All Good People (Good thing I stopped listening to the radio or else I would've killed myself by now, thanks to that song alone)

Quoting Airlinelover (Reply 8): Currently, "Wake me up when september ends" by Green Day is way overplayed
I thought I was the only one.
"I Will Always Love You" (I think that's the name) by Whitney Houston from The Bodyguard. I came pretty close to ripping the radio out of the dash on that song. If that weren't bad enough, every time the movie was talked about on TV, a clip from that song would play.

Any song which is played on WARW 94.7 in Washington, DC. They must have a limited number of songs in their collection and they are played over and over again. It seems like a third of the songs in their collection are Rolling Stones songs. Needless to say I don't listen to them anymore.
