Hey,

I have to admit, I love Bollywood movies. They're great. I try to watch as many as possible, though I can't get my hands on too many. Here are some of my favorite ones:

I talked with my friend who's Indian and he couldn't believe that some white guy would like Bollywood movies. They all seem to have really awesome plots. And of course.. the dancing/singing scenes are the best. Very different than the Hollywood we're used to  Smile

.... and by the way.. let's not forget.... HER........

3. Salman Khan
4. Saif Ali Khan

Just for putting on Lagaan welcome to my RU list. What a wonderful movie. Made me understand and actually like cricket!!"Plus the dances are amazing and the actors as well

Different culture I guess...many people find it annoying that there is so much singing and dancing in the movie. As I say its a different culture...so why not enjoy that aspect ¨!

I can never watch a full Bollywood movie. Most of them are simply crap. Few exceptions are always there, I have watched a few Hindi movies that were really good.
I was a bollywood fan as a kid, I must have watched all Amitab movies.

I liked a recent movie called "Parineeta" and was surprised to know that the heroine was a Keralite-Tamil. She looked more like a Bengali (Vidya Balan).

I enjoy watching Bollywood Movies. These are some of my favourite titles:

Kal Ho Naa Ho, Paheli, Saathiya, K3G, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Hum Tum, Bach Ke... (don't know how to spell it), VEER ZARA, and many others!

Are there any new good ones besides Salaam Namaste? There aren't that many new ones that I'm interested in, but I feel like watching one. Is Parineeta or B+B good?

Who here watches AVS?

Jasepl,

Yeah, I really liked it. I can't compare it to Lagaan. Very different, but it was a light little comedy. I would have to think that this movie was aimed at the "American" audience too. Don't you think? None the less I did like it.

Anyway, I remember the first Indian movie I saw as a small kid when I was living in Romania. I have no idea what it was called, but it was about a guy who moved to small indian village. I can't remember what job he had. Either an engineer or a doctor. Anyway, there was this really beautiful girl who he liked, but then he found out she had a burn mark on her face, because she burned herself with oil when she was young. Then a big flood came to town, etc etc. I wouldn't mind seeing that movie again, but I have no idea what it's called. This is going back at least 17 years.  Smile

Cheers,

Vio

Is Parineeta good?

Only if you have a sound knowledge of Hindi/Urdu? It is slightly different from the usual crappy dance and fight bollywood formula. It is good compared to the average bollywood movies.

Did you notice that the cat (or was it the dog?) in Muijhse Shaadi Karogi was spray painted? It was just like the Hollywood movie "Meet the Parents".

I think they're fun - sometimes it's a little tough to follow the plot (Rich Boy Meets Secretary, Secretary sings song and dances round with 800 close personal friends, Rich Boy sings song with 800 close mates, Rich Boy dances round Switzerland with Secretary, Rich Boy discovers Dark Secret about Secretary's uncle, All Is Lost, Rich Boy sings sad song and dances round with 800 close personal friends, Secretary sings sad song and gets rained on, Rich Boy's Nasty Mother finds out Real Truth About Secretary's Uncle, All Is Forgiven, Disgraced Uncle does much mugging and contrition, everyone dances with 800 close personal friends, the end). But they're fun, I inevitably end up watching if one comes on TV.

You are talking about 'Satyam Shivam Sundram' starring Zeenat Aman as the girl with the burn mark on her face. The engineer who moved to the village was Sashi Kapoor. Zeenat was really hot in that movie.
