My husband is a football players agent so we are definitely going to be there... But I really am wondering whether Turkey will make it at the playoff qualification match verses Switzerland...

Ireland could have been at the playoff's playing Turkey but we failed miserably and only qualified 4th. Oh well I suppose I hope that the Dutch or Brazilians win.

I am also trying to get tickets but unfortunately without success so far.

One of my friends is a real expert when it comes to get tickets for the football stadium, he already organized tickets for the Euro 2004 (Spain vs. Portugal) and for top Champions League games (for example: ManU vs. Real Madrid), but here he admitted that he also has a problem to get World Cup tickets.

I must see a World Cup game in the stadium!

Hopefully I'll get to a game or two. I went to Euro 2004 and that was fantastic, hopefully Germany will be the same.

But probably not as warm. Bugger. Sad

Still without a ticket, though, but I'm working on it, using contacts to the major sponsors, which is the only way to get a ticket, it seems to me.

Who cares, let anarchy take over...the party will be even funnier, imagine all those drugs being legalised, all those old age pensions that won't be paid out anymore, therefore thousands of old ladies seeking quick money around the English team quarters...(and succeeding!!).  Wink

Look, you have to understand the certain players have special training regimes. It works for Rooney, don't knock it.  Wink

Incidentally, the rumour is that Bert Trautmann will be guest of honour for England's first match. That would be so wonderful, so appropriate.

We live only one hour away from Leipzig and 2 hours from Berlin. My wife is absolutely crazy about football (OK, soccer to our US friends). We will follow Brazil until the victory!

I'm sure that no matter what happens, the England team will console themselves with the thought that at least they don't have to stay in that Godforsaken hole when it's all over.  Wink

You mean their training grounds in the Lake District? Or was it in Cornwell?

It's totally up to your team if they prefer to stay in a Godforsaken hole, funny guys, you! There are so many lovely hotels in Germany and you go for Godforsaken holes, well whatever suits you best.... and remember, the old ladies will be there, wherever you chose to stay.

Yes, I believe they're called "Switzerland" Big grin

I hear the reason FIFA didn't make the host nation qualify as well as the competition winners was because they didn't want the embarrassment of the German team having to find somewhere outside of Germany during the finals.
