So, who wants one?
Who has had them done?
Who SHOULD get one performed?
And for those that have had them done, have you ever considered getting a reversal?
I have had the snip job. Thinking two kids was enough. Now after some time, i must admit and i'm somewhat embarassed to say, i am considering getting a reversal done.

I haven't had them done, but I have "done" quite a few while in general surgery (fun operation to perform, the snip snip job)

I don't think you should be. Many people go through that - divorces, new partnership. The one thing you have to keep in mind, though, is that the process is somewhat different this time:
1. much lengthier surgery (microanastomosis)
2. cannot be done in an outpatient setting (at least in Germany)
3. Success rate is somewhat limited (this is the major problem)
4. costlier than the vasectomy per se
Otherwise, it is pretty much a straightforward procedure, not too much trauma involved.

I'm considering one, since I want to remain child-free for life.

You are asking if one can still perform after the snip job?
Answer, oh ya. No problems what so ever. The plumbing still works. I must admit i was a little weary having sex for the first time after the operation. I had this crazy thought of my balls exploding or something like that.

Actually, you've still got the seeds, they're just roadblocked. Sperm production doesn't cease. It's a physical block/detour, that's all.

Well, i'm still happily married, so no change in partners.

Much more fun, no worries except that if one were to change partners or (heaven forbid) stray away from home, you would need to really try hard to remind yourself about safe sex as when in a long term relationship it is too easy to forget that kids aren't the only hazard related to unprotected sex!
I know a man who had the reversal....walked like John Wayne for ages...ooch!

I watched a live vasectomy a few weeks ago on This Morning, and I must say, I don't envy you guys. The way the poor mans tubes were pulled made me wince.

Well, didnt happen to me thankfully but a couple of friends of mine... the story goes like this...
Group of lads were out at the pub playing pool. These two guys were on the table and (remaining anonymous) Dave and Jason placed a £10 wager on the game. So, these two guys are playing they're about 3/4 the way through a game when its Daves shot, he has to reach over the table and whilst he is bent over the table, jase decides to "nudge" daves nackers to make him miss... Only in his drunken state, he didnt "nudge" them, he whacked them full pelt with the butt-end of his cue. Dave dropped like a bag of spuds and blacked out. An hour later he comes round but then we notice he's bleeding in "that area". Cue a trip to Casualty where the doctors spend four hours attempting to save dave's testicles unfortunatly they had to remove one of them or should i say "It had already been obliterated and they just removed chunks of it". And replaced it with a rubber one to make it look like he had two.
From then on he was known as One Bollock.
And he still had to give jase the tenner for loosing the game...
ouch

About three weeks after my daughter was born . . . I really don't care for kids - at all - in any sense - so this was a good choice. Don't get me wrong - love my daughter - she's fantastic - but the Lord would not have smiled on me twice . . . My daughter is a gem, any other child I would have would be a heathen devil child, I'm sure.
Quoting Macc (Reply 4): any influence on sexual life?
Nope - none at all . . .
Quoting Kaddyuk (Reply 9): **thinks about the snip then crawls up into the foetal position**
Actually, the first snip wasn't bad . . . didn't feel a thing . . . but, as you know, any potential damage to that area and it kicks in it's self defense mechanisms and when the doctor reached for the second side it felt like he was pulling my balls down outta my skull . . .

I think you had the wrong op mate, mine live in a little bag between my legs, I think your doc did your tonsils from the wrong end!!
Quoting Greasespot (Reply 20): Common keep posting in here. am getting a real laugh from this.....
Ok, Ms G as you so clearly get off on the thought of men in agony.....
I had mine done at the Marie Stopes clinic in central London, it wasn't so bad but you had to sit in a room with a ghetto blaster chained to the wall playing some godawful "New Age Muzak" that sounded like souls in torment..bad start...then there was an all-pervading aroma of singed flesh permeating the building.
The op was no biggie except for the nurse, she was obscenely pretty and stood there mopping my brow (I was sweatng like a good 'un) and watching my knackers being re plumbed with interest.
Then they gave me a handful of pills, I put on the very tight pants they advised me to bring, grabbed a cab to the tube station (oops, bad pun) and headed off to Canons Park which is about as far north as you can go on the underground.
BUT there was a hold up on the tube so the journey took ages longer than it should, so that the pills had worn off well before the end of the trip, every bump felt like I had cannon balls attached to my bits and there is an extremely bumpy piece of track just before Canons Park!!
Eventualy I got off the train and, grasping the handrail, biting my lip in pain I eventualy made it down the stairs to street level.
To get to my house from here was quite literally (under normal plumbing conditions) a walk in the park, 4 minutes tops.
I shuffled across the park, very slowly, like an old man of 90, every step, every puff of wind a blinding paroxysm of pain, I cursed, I sweated, I shuffled and after 20 mins i made it to my front door.
I opened the door, yelled "Drugs!" to Mrs J and collapsed on the sofa.
I didn't have any nasty swellings i'm sorry to say but the pain was excrutiating..until the co-proxamol kicked in.
Anyway, I hope your twisted sense of humour is satisfied for now.

The worst pain was the Betadyne antiseptic on a freshly shaven nut. Afterward, I kept a cold "Big Gulp" between my legs for several hours. After a day or two, the incision begins to heal and itch. Don't scratch! My doctor snipped, tied, cotterized AND put titanium clips at the ends. Those clips get between the thighs sometimes and pinch. Your nut turns black, then returns to normal color after a few days. It was worth it for me.
