leaving tomorrow morning & have done a ton of research on the web, but with only 4 days there, I was wondering if anyone here has been lately...and what are the must-see venues/restaurants/pubs/activities, etc.

I have been there with my girlfriend last April. We flew to BDA on CO from EWR.
It sucked actually because we had bad weather on all 5 days, the ocean was way too cold to swim in it (and I was looking forward to swim as much as possible there). We stayed at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, very luxurious place but also very expensive. Furthermore did we feel like we were in an old people's home, all of the guests except us were 40 years of age or even older, most of them were there to play golf.
You can rent a moped (you can't rent cars there) to make a trip to Hamilton, there are lots of shopping places.

Damn, Patrick. I'm sorry that you had a crap time there especially after all my positive comments.
Well, i hope Lucky727 has a better time.
Quoting Lucky727 (Reply 2): staying at a resort called '9 Beaches' at the western end of the island in the Sandys district
REsort looks very nice. Must be close to the Golf course were i spent most of my time. Royal something was the name. Longest course on the island apart from the private courses.
There is an English pub / resaurant near that course...excellant fries and a good selection of beer. Thier fillet steak was tasty as well. I ate there a lot.
Let me know how you like it. What does AC use to fly down there>?

I wrote a huge post about my thoughts on Bermuda only to see you already booked it. I'm sorry. I hope you have an enjoyable time. My advice is to bring A LOT of money. Bermuda is the most expensive place in the world to live.

I live there....here.....Bermuda. Yes, it's expensive, and yes, the weather's unpredictable. However, anyone expecting Caribbean temperatures in April hasn't done their research. We're in the North Atlantic...only 2 hours from Boston/NY etc. The weather channel this evening has said we're going to have fairly nice weather over the next few days...highs in the 70s and lows in the high 60s. Yesterday sucked....high wind, torrential rain, thunder, lightning and a couple of small twisters.
9 Beaches is somewhat secuded out there at the West End...if you're looking for nightlife, such as it is, you need to go into Hamilton. I recommend taking the ferry over. It's relaxing and you get great views of the Island on the way.
Moped rentals are great, but bear in mind that we drive on the left (most of us,anyway) and Bermuda is home to some of the worst drivers on the face of the earth who look at tourists on bikes as a major nuisance to be sped past at very close range.
If you're into history, visit St. George's..the original capital and home to the oldest operating Anglican (Episcopalian) church in the Western Hemisphere. Fort St. Catherine is worth a look if you go to St.G as well. Lunch at the White Horse Tavern....try local fish...wahoo is delicious!
Lots of golf courses...some need an 'introduction' such as Mid-Ocean, but Port Royal is an excellent course...beautiful views and the 16th is a real challenge.
If I can help any more, let me know!!

The only problem was the weather (and probably the wrong choice regarding the hotel), otherwise I liked it, all the people were extremly friendly and it is simply beautiful there.

You are right but we had no other choice! Actually we wanted to fly in June but we had to change the date for some reason.
Anyway, I'll be back some day (even as a non golf player ).

White Horse Tavern is in St. George's....Port Royal has a little restaurant attached too...can't remember what it's called, though.
If you want REALLY hot temperatures, though, July anad August are the months to come here, although you'll have to deal with temps in the mid to high 90s with about 100% humidity. The humidity is the pits.

Thanks so much - Kmh1956, Darling...plus YooYoo & Sabena, too ~
I've heard of the White Horse Tavern - apparently owned by one of our own (Canuck) Maritimers - I'm not coming for the weather, per se...just a quick escape with someone special. I've done my homework on Hamilton, etc. as I have to fill my days while 'the someone' is busy scuba diving...I plan to stock up on M&S Jelly Babies & visit the Art Centre at the Royal Dockyard, among other things...
Kmh, please feel free to contact me through my profile ~ how about lunch on Saturday?...my treat
