Democracy in action, kids!

Alas, my 14'' Zildjian Avedis quick beat hats can take no more, so it's time for a replacement! These will be my general all-purpose hi hats.

The choice is between:

Zildjian Avedis 14'' Mastersound - Traditional finish

Sexy sound, crisp and clear, which is something I love. Definate chick, which I also like. Perhaps too bright for a general all-around sound?

Zildjian Avedis 14'' Mastersound - Brilliant finish

Crap sound, but brilliant finish Zildjians look so damn cool.

Zildjian Avedis 14'' New Beat - Traditional finish

Different sound than the Mastersounds. Certainly less bright, but with the definate clarity. Slightly too middle of the road though, a bit boring?

Zildjian Avedis 15'' New Beat - Traditional finish

Larger hats, which I tend to like from a playing perspective, especially when playing quite heavy. Unfortunately, all the 15'' hats I've had have sucked when played washy.

So the choice is up to you! Vote for which ones take your fancy, for whatever reason you want. I expect 100+ replies by the end of the week!

1. As a bassist, I understand that you lack the mental facilities to make such a decision.  Wink

2. Who the @#$% really cares what they look like? Music is about sound, afterall. Choose the ones that sound best. All things sound-wise being equal, choose the ones that seem to best respond to your style of playing.

It's all very well saying that, but the same can be said about relationships. The fat chick might have an awesome personality and you might get on really well with her, but quite a lot of people in the world would dump her for the vacuous twit who's drop dead gorgeous.

The Original Finish, 14" Mastersound.

Don't really care what the look like like, it's the sound and endurance. The old saying, if it ain't broke . . . .

Definitely the 14" Traditional Finish Mastersounds.

Though I have played New Beat hats that I liked, they really weren't suitable for heavy playing. Sounded good in some lighter blues/jazz.

Disaster of ALL disasters today, as my beloved Avedis 21'' Sweet Ride cracked! But yeah, I'm leaning towards the Mastersounds. I played some 13'' ones years ago and loved them to bits.

As for the bassist that replied to this thread:
