Hi all,

This one for done for grain just now.....

http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/r...6817ra-85784_dme_131005_kn_302.jpg

I can see ever-so-slightly more noise than a regular side-on but:

a) this is from 2005.
b) this was very low, sunset light at ISO400, on a 350D.
c) this features an aircraft and scheme not well represented in the database.

It seems a bit picky to me, given the rarity.

Cheers,

Karl

I probably would have said soft before grain, if anything.. Maybe another pass over the sky?

I see noise in the sky, but moreso in the shadows, like under the wing.

Karl, I'd probably submit that one at 1024. Also looks a bit soft and low on contrast.

Vk, I'm not claiming it's noise-free, but for me it's negligible considering it's an older image of a rare aircraft.
Cheers,

Karl

Makes no difference to Airliners.net.

Per the rejection guide general notes:

1. "Images taken before the digital era (pre 2002 as a rough guideline) will be screened with more leniency..."
2. "Rare aircraft and new registrations will also be screened with more leniency."

But is this old and rare enough? I don't know.

Not sure if you are referring to the amount of noise or the rarity, but if the latter that is absolutely not true. Older, rare, and in some cases new registrations have more lax standards applied to them.

2005 and 43 images already on the db, so no, it is not.

This is what I meant to quote...

2005 isn't old enough.

Sun being low and shot at ISO 400 on an older camera doesn't matter to anet, I'm sure. We'd all like it to, but the when and how doesn't mean much to anet. Final result is what matters.

It's not the first photo of the aircraft in the DB.

Hope that clears it up.

Ok, that makes a lot more sense  , and you're about right with that.
