First should be ok; middle three are borderline for the light; last is soft.

Very tough light with this one, however a rare shot. Anything I could do to help it into the database?

A bit soft, and as you say pretty poor light. Not much you can do to make its chances better than borderline at best.

Awesome panning, but I suspect the contrasty lighting will probably preclude it from being accepted.

Thanks for the great opinions! Especially for your honest input as always Dana

I had a query regarding the following recent rejections.

Initially rejected for SOFT:

http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/r....4423bgi_17jul2012_1705_edited.jpg

Photo was carefully sharpened with USM & re-uploaded. Sadly rejected for DARK:

http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/r....9632bgi_17jul2012_1705_edited.jpg

I haven't touched the contrast/levels in the 2nd image after the initial rejection. Should I appeal?

Regards,

I think you've beautifully reflected the prevailing lighting conditions at the time. That said, I do agree the picture would look even better with about 0.25 of a stop more exposure.

They seem harsh on dark. I had this one rejected for dark (also for being too common, which is why I'm not going to resubmit)

No, it probably should have been rejected for dark the first time as well. Sorry it was missed.

The backlit angle certainly made this one fairly tricky to save. Tried to brighen it one last time before it ends up in the archives  .
