If you look at the image in this link you will see large yellow boxes hanging from the engine supports. I'm figuring that they are weights that are used to simulate the weight of an engine. My questions is why are they needed? Does it put stresses on the airframe if there are no engines hanging from the wings?

I thought they were girl planes and those were earrings.
