Both are operated by their county's (Miami-Dade and Broward respectively) aviation departments.
BWI might be a candidate for an airport run by the state. It is operated by the Maryland Aviation Administration, a division of their DOT. I'm not sure if you would consider that an authority or not.
You can also add SWF and TEB to the PANYNJ.

I believe SEA is privately ran by the Port of Seattle, which has their own police department.
BFI is ran by King County, I think.
DEN and PHX are both ran by their respective cities.

No they're not. They have their own authority. The airport is owned and operated by the Williams Gateway Airport Authority.

I did correct my post to say it was operated by the authority which PHX is apart of.
Quote: The airport authority is governed by a five member board, composed of the mayors and tribal governor of the town of Gilbert, city of Mesa, town of Queen Creek, Gila River Indian Community and the city of Phoenix. | http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoenix-Mesa_Gateway_Airport

I don't know who's right but I found this, as much as I despise & loathe Wiki, from the same page you cited:
It mentions this:
The airport is owned and operated by the Williams Gateway Airport Authority.
It does not mention that PHX is the sole authority....at all, as your post #9 suggests it does.
Quoting dlramp4life (Reply 12): I did correct my post to say it was operated by the authority which PHX is apart of. |
Ok, fair enough, but again, your post made it say like PHX is in sole control of IWA, in which clearly they are not.

The city and tribe governments that I quoted form the link are the WGAA.

I used to work at AZA and at the time of my employment out there the PHX aviation department was working with the airport as well.

Not anymore, on April 18, 2012 the state of Connecticut formed the Connecticut Aviation Authority and transferred BDL and 5 other state run general aviation airports to the newly formed CAA, so the Connecticut Department of Transportation is now out of the airport business.

GFK(shout out to the home airport) is the Grand Forks Airport Authority which is a partnership between the county and city of Grand Forks.
It's surprising to see the difference in how many of the airports are run. I thought most would be strictly the state DOTs. I was even surprised to learn about BDL and the airport authority there!

LAWA was LAX-ONT-PMD-VNY.
But now that there is no scheduled service at Palmdale any longer the airfield went back to the City of Palmdale, with LAWA still having title on the passenger terminal and parking lot.
