I know that some airlines are having winglets installed on their 757s. My question is... How much more range will the aircraft get with winglets?

If the result is anything like the 737-800, they will reduce fuel consumption by about 5% in cruise.

Range is not really the issue, it's all about the $$$ Gallons!

If the fuel burn is reduced by 5%, how is it possible that some airlines operate 737NGs WITHOUT winglets (e.g.FR)  Confused

Or saving millions of dollars per plane per year. In the case of the 757, the winglets main benefit is actually the increased range. In the case of the 738, the main benefit is the fuel savings. The winglets only really become a benefit on flights over 3 hours due to the increased weight of adding the winglets in the first place.

On the 737NG... it's closer for 48 minutes for airlines like WN. It all depends on the airline running the aircraft....

Let's not forget improved climb performance allowing more time at the cruising altitude and a siginificant reduction in climb burn.

Longer cruise time will help the Winglets on the B737NGs be effective else its a load penalty carrying all that extra weight around.

The APB 757 winglets are actually 737NG winglets, mounted on an adaptor. The adaptor adds a little performance above and beyond that realized on the 737NG.
