So do these aircraft have much of a reputation (good or bad) among the pilots and maintenance crews? Any interesting/odd characteristics or traits? How about flight characteristics?

Well the Embraer 170 entered service with far fewer FAA 'squaws' as the Canadair CRJ700, if that is any idication. From what I've have heard out of PIT, as long as the plane leaves the hangar in the morning with no issues, it flys all day without a problem. The on-board flight computers are a little grumpy and if the crews do not power up or down in the correct order, the computer gets confused and start to act up.
