Hello all.
I wanted to compare the capacity of the A300/ 767-300 and the 767-400.
But I got a little confused, since everywhere I see smth different.
I always like to compare with the most pax available in a plane, to see the entire difference.
I know, the A300 is 54 meters long and can take 8 abreast. If you want an all economy seating you can get up to 296 seats (got it from Airbus.com). But I know, you can have the A300 with a 9 abreast configuration, so if you just add one more seat to every aisle, you can get up to 340 seats.
Now, the 767 is narrower then the A300, but it is about the same length (55 meters). Since it is narrower, it can only have a maximum of 8 abreast. now, common sense would tell you, that the 767 cant take as much as the A300! But on Boeing.com it sais, the 763 can take up to 350 in economy? How on earth is that possible, due to the narrower fuselage?

Thanks for any replies!

A 767 with a 31/32in seat pitch, 7 abreast, and mid-cabin lavs can fit 290 coach seats. Change it 8 abreast and you can fit at least 40 more to increase capacity to 330. Minus the mid-cabin lavs and reconfigure the rear galley and lavs can add at least another 10 seats to 340. A little more reconfiguring will get you up to 350 seats. BTW, 351 is the max the 767-300 was certified for and tested to show that all pax can evacuate the aircraft in 90 seconds.

Amazing, thanks!

I guess it will be the same way with the 764 then. So in the end, the 764 also could seat the same amount as the A330-200 then, (375 vs 380 pax on the A332)

On Boeing's website (tech descriptions chapter) the seating chart for the 764 shows a high density seating for 409 pax, 8 abreast, with all doors being Type A exits. Pitch is probably 29-30 inches.

The A332 can pack in 440 pax in a 9-abreast config, probably with 29-30 inches of pitch and with all doors being Type A also.

409?? on the B764? I only found 375 on the technichal specs site.

In that case, the 777 must be able to take more then 440 then.

CRJ900:

Okay I just checked on Flybernhard.de, that the 767-400 can only take up to 375 passengers. Although the 767-400ERX was supposed to take up to 410! I think you mixed it up with this. And since the 764ERX was never built, there is no 410 pax 764.

About the A332. It sais it can only take up tp 412 pax. Now, the larger A333 can take up to 440 passengers.

The A300 can take a maximum of 375 passengers (like the 767-400)

Actually, the 764 can hold 409 pax with 8 abreast seating. Can be found in Section 2.4 Interior Arrangements (pg. 13) of Boeing's Airport Technology section.

http://www.boeing.com/assocproducts/aircompat/acaps/7674sec2.pdf

The same section shows that the 777-200 with 9 abreast seating can hold 418 pax with a mix of 32 and 31 in seat pitch and 440 pax at the same seat pitch with 10 abreast seating. The 777-300 can hold 500 pax with 9 abreast and 32 and 31 in seat pitch. It increases to 550 pax with 10 abreast seating and 30 in seat pitch.
