I was looking at flights from DUB-SYD and when I got the full price, I also got this message:

The price of your ticket includes a security, insurance and fuel surcharge per flight levied by the carrier.

The security insurance I can understand but what's with the fuel surcharge? When did airlines start adding this?

The surcharges have been in for a while now, its, I think, to do with the rising oil prices from the Iraq war and the way prices have been fluctuating a good bit. Because you will probably buy your ticket well in advance of going to SYD the price of oil may rise a good bit by then and you will have already paid for you ticket, if the price of fuel goes up then the airline is at a slight loss, so to recover that they put this surcharge in.

Thats my understaning of it, and I could be completely wrong.

Hope that helps
