Small Fins On Engines

I've looked in past posts... and I came up with nothing for my question, but if I missed the answer, I am truly sorry.

What purpose do those small fins serve on the cowlings of the jet engines?

Anyway those are "chines" and are used to shape airflow. I believe you will find the answers you seek here http://www.airliners.net/discussions/tech_ops/read.main/114105/

There's also a great link at the the bottom of the box you type in that gives a quick lesson in HTML. It tells you how to do bold, add links, smiles, etc. I still refer to it from time to time.

To be fair, it's not quite HTML but the A.nut variations Big grin
