Easa 145 And Type Designations.

Hello all,

I have been wondering about the type approval designation for EASA part 145 maintenance companies. When we recieved our part 145 it stated the scope of work intended e.g. A320-232 yet our EASA licences have the type rating A318/19/20/21 with V2500 engines. The A320 family has a common type cert. My question is that, if you have an approval to maintain a member of the A320 family shouldn't the scope of work be A318/19/20/21 with V2500 or CFM56 instead of just A320-232, regardless of which variant you operate? I would imagine the 145 approval should mirror what the aircraft type certificate says instead of just part of it,

any thoughts please

I think that with approval to maintain the A320 you have 319 and 321 included by default. They're identical aircraft and the B737 fleet is split into the three fleets... 737-200 then 737-300/400/500 as classic, 737-600/700/800/900 as Next Generation.

Perhaps MEL can let us know regarding the 737 as he is our 737 guru  Wink

the question is if a national authority give me a 145 approval for A320 I want to know why they don't put the type designation for one engine type in full. The A320 family has two ratings

A. A318/19/20/21 CFM56-5 B. A319/20/21 V2500.

737 has three

A. 737-100/200 JT8D B. 737-3/4/500 CFM56-3 C. 737-6/7/8/900 CFM56-7

All the 737s are on the same type cert but they need different ratings for maintenance as they all have different engines, changes made with supplementary type certificates. All the A320 family is on the type cert with an s.t.c. for the change in engines so they too need different ratings.

If my 145 approval says 737-300 I want to know why it doesn't say 737-3/4/500 which is the type designation (inc. s.t.c.) or does my airline have to buy the 737-4/500 as well!

What do you mean by "my 145 approval"?
Are you mixing up personal 66 type ratings and company 145 approvals?
Two very different beasts.

For example, my employer can't do DC10s anymore but it's going on my personal licence (when I can be bothered to convert).

my 145 approval applies to me as the maintenance company within the airline. I know the difference with part 66 and 145. According to the MOE even if the airline has its own maintenance it is still known as the contracted part 145 maintenance organisation. So my question applies to the scope of work specified on the 145 approval,
