I've heard that the Fwd & Aft Cargo doors of the B752 have External,Internal & Manual control panels for Door Operation.
What benifet is the Internal control for.

You'll be happy they are there if you get locked inside.

The inner door release on the door itself unlocks the door, and a switch located in the ceiling powers the door open. An external panel houses the electrical switch and light control. On the fwd side of the door, you can fit a 3/8 in. speed handle (or Makita if you don't exceed X rpms) to open and close the door manually. ATLAMT said it...when your brain dead lead closes the door while you're finishing up loading, you can get yourself out.

If in the rear cargo bay, you could always climb through to the Bulk Cargo and open that door. However what use is opening the door on a B757? If there is no FMC or steps there, you wont want to jump the 20 odd feet to the ground below!
If in the forward cargo bay, just jump through into the avionics and then down via the lower access hatch

Kaddyuk,
I believe you've confused your aircraft. The distance to the ground from a B757 lower cargo door is about 7 feet +-1. There is no bulk door, because both doors are bulk doors. And there is no access from the avionics compartment to the cargo compartment. You're describing a B767, though the height from the deck to the ground isn't anywhere near 20 feet.

I'd rather do that than sit in a cold baggage hold for a few hours.

Here is a pic of the control switch inside the cargo bin. It is spring loaded to the off posistion.
