Does anyone know, do aircraft departing LHR easterly and going towards BRU, for example, have to fly LHR-BIG-DET-DVR, or does the aircraft fly from LHR direct to Dover VOR?
The reason I ask is that I live under the departure route and the aircraft would seem to route direct to Dover. If I look at the flt sim map it would suggest the BIG-DET-DVR route.
Hope someone can help.
and with that..cabin crew, seats for landing please.

Hi,
SIDS at Heathrow are:-
WOBUN / BUZAD - for departures to the north
BROOKMANS PARK - North and East
SOUTHAMPTON - South and West
DOVER / DETLING - South and East
MIDHURST - South
COMPTON - West
MAYFIELD - South
From Heathrow to Brussels I would have thought either MAYFIELD OR DOVER / DETLING.
Assuming DOVER / DETLING is the obvious one the SIDS for Heathrow show a right turn shortly after leaving runway 9 on a heading that roughly goes straight to DETLING. This would pass to the north of Biggin Hill and aircraft need to be at 5000' or higher.
I suppose, given ATC clearance, the plane could be routed direct from LHR to Dover. However given the proximity to London gatwick, plus other traffic using London City etc - I would expect this to be unlikely.

Thanks for the information.
I guess on a busy day they have to route DET-DVR but at slack times just route direct to DVR. With all the aircraft ex-LHR, LGW and LCY it would be a potential mess.
