Can anyone tell me what the fuel burn would be on an MD-11F hauling 45,000 kg of freight? I'm just looking for a quick ballpark, not a hyper-accurate number.

45,000kg of freight would be a pretty light load but as you asked for a ballpark figure I can say at avg. cruise alt, econ. speed (.835m) and avg wgt you'll see about 16,000-17,500 lb./hr

CosmicCruiser is correct....I usually see figures of around 2200-2500kgs/hr per engine ( PW 4462 ) which equals 6600-7500kgs/hr or roughly 15,000lbs/hr.
Btw, 45,000kgs of freight would equal a full paxload ( we run them with 393 pax in the summerseason ).
