Sleeper Seats For Long Haul

I was thinking that on a long haul overnight flight what people really want is a bed rather than a seat. So why don't the airlines provide beds? It wouldn't have to take up more space. They could be stacked up 3 high like in a train. Perhaps they could fold down as well to become seats for take off and landing.

Well most airlines with any sort of respectable international product have sleeper seats nowadays... They aren't stacked 3 high, but are normal seats that convert to flat, or nearly flat "beds"

How would it work it coach? Your head against the window and your feet sticking into the aisle? What happens if you have to go to the bathroom? Would the flight attendant bring a bedpan and then empty it for you?

That's hilarious! Of course, it's not too far from what happens today, is it? If you're in the window seat and you have to go, you better hope for some cooperative row-mates!
