My apologies if this has been discussed before.
I would like to know in how many years does an aircraft pay itself.
Say, a company buys a brand new 737 for $60 million and operates on 70% payload. In how many years will it pay it self off.
1. The payback period is less than in small aircraft compared to large longhaul aircraft or vice versa ?
Also can someone breakup the operating costs as %age of gross profit:
1. The fuel cost.
2. Crew cost (pilots, FAs) etc.
3. Maintenance.
It may depend on many factors, fuel price, economy etc, but I am looking for ballpack numbers.
Thanks
