Anticollision Lights

I've seen a few Aircraft with White Anticollision lights whereas normally Red Anticollision lights are common.
Are these white Anticols permitted officially.
Whats the advantage.

This is the applicable Canadian Standard from the CAR's (Canadian Air Regulations) 625.16.

All our planes have both. White are only used in the air, red anytime there is potential danger around the airplane. There was a post on this a few weeks ago..JT
