Seeing that the IL96M has four P&W 2037/40, I would think the IL96M would rocket in to the air. The P&W powered 757 has 2037/40 and DC8 70 has four CFM56, seeing that both these jet has outstanding takeoff. I would think an aircraft with four 757 engines, would had have an outstanding takeoff also. So how is a IL96M takeoff ?

Interesting question, would like to know that too.
Also since it is in about the same class as the A342/343 or 777-200(ER) with a MTOW of about 270 metric Ton (visually the 340 and Il96 could be twins IMHO) I wonder how they compare on an efficiency level?
Also ,if the western world would overcome it's (misplaced?) mistrust of anything Russian made , couldn't this be a viable 3rd alternative, maybe it is somewhat less economic to fly but wouldn't that be compensated by a considerably cheaper purchase /lease price?

Well I've been on a C-17 a few times and they have 4x PW2037 (Military version) and the takeoffs are nothing spectacular but the thrust reversing is, but I say that because as a passenger we're sitting against the fuselage below and behind the engines and you hear it quite a bit.

The IL-96M uses PW2337 turbofans, not PW2037's.
