The Honda HF120 engine comes in at less than 400 lbs.

The uninstalled weight of the PW610F on the Eclipse (excluding pumps, starter-generator and fire detection equipment) will be just under 270 pounds.

We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.

Didn't that throw the program off for a couple of years when they decided to switch engines from the Williams FX-22, because the PWC engine was actually heavier than the Williams engine (hard as that is to believe...)?

All sort of things had to be changed. The additional weight and thrust required a beefier structure, and those PW610s are very thirsty compared to the proposed Williams.

Thanks to cdekoe's response and link; I see that the Eclipse engine PW610F is listed at 270 lbs and rated with 900 lbs of thrust, better than a 3 to 1 ratio. What is the ratio of the B777 engines (weight to thrust) and the proposed B787?  Smile

According to GE http://www.geae.com/engines/commercial/ge90/ge90-115b.html the GE90-115B has a better than 6 to 1 ratio. It appears they don't have data for the GenX on that site yet.
