Hi guys, I have one question: If the pilot causes a damage of "his/her" airplane (tail strike, runway overrun, damage caused by very hard landing...), what does the airline do with the pilot? I mean, the airline does want the pilot to pay the damage (is there any insurence for these cases?) or is there any kind of sanctions for the pilot? I suppose that there is, but I have only some very very general ideas about that.
Many Thanks

I don't think it is realistic, or legal in the U.S.A., to expect the pilot to pay for any damage he causes to his aircraft. Keep in mind that even a very minor mishap could easily cost more then the pilots entire salary for a year.

You won't be liable for the cost of the damages BUT if it was caused from deviation from co. policy, a/c manuf. limitaions or FARs then you'll probably be terminated.
