It's cheaper to fly to from Bangkok than HKG. Has anybody here done the boat transfer from Shenzhen to HK/Kowloon? What happened at immigration? One report I found on Google suggested that there was no Chinese immigration; only HK immigration once reaching HK. I don't want to apply for a Chinese visa just to spend under an hour on Chinese soil!

There is immigration at the ferry pier. You have to take a bus ride between the airport and the ferry pier. This bus is open to anyone...no tickets etc... needed, so it is not secure and therefore you will definately need to get a visa even if it is for the one hour...sorry.
