I have just noticed the emergency exit hatch, again being used by Boeing.

Is this the first image of it?

I bet F/Os are going to hate the 787... Isn't it the CRJ that has a similar hatch setup which leaks on the F/O?

For me it's no big deal! After a few years you do get used to not having a sliding window...

The L-1011 is also equipped with a flight station overhead escape hatch, as all the flight station windows are all fixed.

Is the 787 the first large commercial transport to only have 4 flight station windows? Assume this decision by Boeing was to save money but is it cheaper to have the escape hatch rather than 6 flight station windows with two that are sliding openers?

I don't know anything about leaking, but if you ever had to use the hatch on the CRJ, you better be paying attention when that door opens if you're in the jumpseat. Otherwise, that thing will be knocking you right in the face and the Captain and F/O will be using your slumped over body as a step to get out.

The only time there is too much fuel onboard, is when you're on fire!
