Is the 787 the first large commercial transport to only have 4 flight station windows? Assume this decision by Boeing was to save money but is it cheaper to have the escape hatch rather than 6 flight station windows with two that are sliding openers?

Quoting CaptOveur (Reply 3): I bet F/Os are going to hate the 787... Isn't it the CRJ that has a similar hatch setup which leaks on the F/O?
I don't know anything about leaking, but if you ever had to use the hatch on the CRJ, you better be paying attention when that door opens if you're in the jumpseat. Otherwise, that thing will be knocking you right in the face and the Captain and F/O will be using your slumped over body as a step to get out.
