My employer is in the middle of installing a UFI mod(universal fault insolator) unit to our 757 center tanks fuel boost pumps. To date we have done more than 2/3's of the fleet. Funny thing was when we started not many people knew what it took to get the center boost pumps to run on the ground in the hanger, so I post this question for you.

Besides starting a engine how can you get the center fuel boost pumps to run in the hanger?

David

PS. I know of 2 ways maybe someone else knows another trick

Open the fuel panel door is one of the ways. For the life of me I can't remember the second.

Well first you have to latch in the push button switch for the fuel pump
Then you can either open the refuel door, or get the speed card to signal engine running.
On some speed cards there is a manual test switch which will produce the desired effect.
There is no other way to get the centre tank pump relay to energise.

Wow that was quick. I have people I work with that couldn't get that right without looking in the manual. I use the speed card C/B's since I'm too lazy to get a ladder and get into the P50 panel to flip the switches.

I'm aware of the Fuel Panel door,as the Override pumps can be used for Fuel transfer on ground.
The 2nd is making the Speed card sense Engine running.

I have a related question.... Whats the min fuel permitted to be retained in the Ctr tank in flt under regulatory norms.
Also in case of Fuel in the CTR tank on Arrival & the need to transfer the Fuel to the Wing tanks if the Total fuel is <13200kgs.Wouldn't it amount to dry running the Override pumps while emptying the CTR tank.
Views.

The station I work at has done over 55 over these mod, 10 hours of laying in the belly doing the P33 panel sucks
