At major airports, do most airlines hire contracted services companies for work on the planes, i.e. pushing, baggage, fuel, waste etc. or do they do it themselves? What about smaller airports?
The reason I ask is I would absolutely love any job at an airport... I'm in the JFK-LGA area and was wondering if I could get hired at my age, with working papers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think that your a bit young right now man, I think you gotta be 18 because of some "work hazzards" stuff or something....Im pretty sure that the airline themselves do the hiring....I want to get a job as a ramprat myself when I go to collge in August....good luck tho man...If there are any ground service employees on this board Id love to hear what youve got to say about your jobs...Thanks...

I work at a small FBO in california. I am only 17, but my job allows me to get up close to everything from Citation Jets to, G-Vs. Last week was very busy for us so we were runing around more than usual. We are hoping to start some charter services with King Airs and Citations. It is a ton of fun working around airplanes. I still laugh when I think I actually get paid to hang out at my favorite place.
